NEUTERED
MA's Pet Services cannot accept unneutered males.
NEW DOG TRIAL
All dogs who have not stayed with or used MA’s Pet Services previously will be required to have an overnight trial prior to their boarding dates, or a day care session if wanting to use our day services. There will be a one off charge for this at the normal service rate.
Boarding dates will not be confirmed until the trial has taken place. This is to ensure the boarding dog/s get to explore our house, garden, most importantly get to know us and our dogs, Mille and Archie and any adverse behaviours or unmanageable anxiety can be identified.
When mixing dogs from different households, a supervised trial session of those dogs meeting will take place to introduce the new dogs to each other. This will be recorded, including which dogs have mixed and the relevant behaviours. Dogs that are aggressive towards each other will not be boarded at the same time.
HEALTH & WELFARE
We are bound under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to ensure no animals suffer in our care.
VETINARY INTERVENTIONS
Any dog suffering from, or suspected to be suffering from, any infectious or contagious disease cannot be accepted into our care. MA’s Pet Services can refuse admission to any animal showing signs of ill health pending advice from a Vet.
Daily observations will be made to check if any dogs are showing signs of illness once in our care.
If we believe the dog requires treatment by a vet, we will first try to contact the owners or the proxy contact, except in emergencies.
MA’s Services will always endeavour to take the dog to its usual vet, but if that is not possible it will be taken to MA’s Pet Services Vet, The Brook Veterinary Surgery. If expensive treatments and investigations are required MA’s Pet Services will again make contact with dogs’ owner or owner’s proxy contact for permission for the treatment to be administered. If the owner or proxy cannot be contacted MA’s Pet Services will take advice from the Vet and make the decisions based on the health and welfare of the dog. If euthanasia is recommended, on humane grounds by the Vet, MA’s Pet Services will contact the owner or proxy contact to ensure permission to avoid unnecessarily prolonging the suffering of dog.
As clearly stated above every effort will always be made to get in touch with owners or proxy contact to discuss an appropriate course of action for the injured or ill dog and we will always keep owners (or proxy contact) updated throughout the process.
Should an animal in our care show signs of an infectious or contagious disease they will be immediately transferred to our isolation facilities or our Vet, The Brook Veterinary Surgery, who provide isolation facilities.
MA’s Pet Services will administer any prescribed treatment the Vet considers advisable. The veterinary consultation, tests and treatment will be at the owner's expense.
